IFU
Description: This antibody recognizes the 130kDa protein identified as ksp-Cadherin (CDH26), which is apart of the cadherin superfamily. Cadherins are a family of glycoproteins that mediate calcium-dependent cell adhesion as well as transmit signals from the extracellular matrix into the cytoplasm. Cadherins have been implicated in many functions including embryogenesis, tissue structure maintenance, and neoplastic invasiveness, and metastasis.
The tissue expression of Ksp-Cadherin is exclusively in the kidney, where the protein functions as the man mediator of homotypic cellular recognition and plays a role in the morphogenic direction of tissue development. Within the kidney, Ksp-Cadherin is found in the basolateral membrane of renal tubular epithelial cells and collecting duct cells, but not in the glomeruli, renal interstitial cells, or blood vessels.
